Individual PV Power Station Shows a Promising Potential

Self-built photovoltaic power plants are no longer something new nowadays. In Shanghai, Shandong,Zhejiang and other provinces nationwide, some people begin to build their own distributed PV power plants and many of them are successfully connected to the grid.

Currently, there are several problems which hinder the development of these power stations and require urgent settlement. Firstly, we lack of sound supportive policies. There are not explicit stipulations on project approval, legal connection to public power grid, business license application and other issues. Secondly, difficulties exist in product purchasing and post maintenance. Thirdly, we are also facing regulatory difficulties. Therefore, the popularization of individual PV power stations will undoubtedly meet strong resistance until these problems are solved.

By the end of May, there were only 25 grid-connected families all over the country and most of them were industry insiders. Liu Jianli, marketing director of Linuo Solar Power, considers that thoughGermany covers an area of less than one twentieth of China’s territory, its installed PV capacity accounts for 40% of global amount owing to the development of individual PV power stations. IfChina can explore this market just as Germany does, our installed PV capacity will occupy more than half of global amount.

In fact, China has been giving policy support to distributed PV. Although the State Council’s six regulatory measures are still being formulated, subsidies will be largely granted to distributed power stations and these measures will also encourage the construction of individual PV power plants. What’s more, some areas have recently issued local subsidy regulations. For example, Jiaxing PV Industrial Park offers 2.8 Yuan per kilowatt hour to individual power stations.

According to the project leader of our show, many PV enterprises actively seek for upgrading and transformation after EU imposing punitive duties on our exported PV products. Through customer visit, we find that some small and medium enterprises have aimed at individual PV power station market. A company leader expresses that this promising market has rarely been developed and now his company is devoted to product standardization, simple installation and one package service which includes power generation application, design, installation and other services.

Driven by favorable policies, people become interested. According to our statistics, more than 1000 people asked for the details about product, installation, investment income and other issues in a month. Some financial institutions express that they will provide loan services for building individual PV power stations on the basis of market exploration and policy guidance. If things can successfully proceed, the PV industry will be greatly promoted.
