Invested and built by Kehua Tech, the 5MW distributed PV project at Yuzhu Subway Station, Guangzhou, is now officially up and running! It is reported to be the biggest project of its kind in China so far.
Covering a rooftop area of 70,000 sq.m, the power station is estimated to generate on a yearly basis 4.2 million kWh of electricity, an amount not only big enough to made the subway station energy self-sufficient, but with power left to contribute to line 5. It is also said that the project will help save 1623.45 tons of standard coals and cut down the electricity bill by an estimated 400,000 yuan every year.
At the unveiling ceremony this Dec. 12th, Mr. Chen Chenghui, President of Kehua Tech, commented “Guangzhou is a leading force in the development of the Greater Bay Area. The practice of the idea ‘Green Transport’ is an important step to a sustainable society and future.”
However, the Yuzhu Subway Station project is not the first case in Guangzhou, and certainly will not be the last. Before that, there have already been two other solar-powered subway stations respectively sited in Zhongluotan and Xinhe.
The untapped PV installation potentials for unused spaces in urban rail transit facilities is immense. Guangzhou, as a city of subways, will gestates PV business opportunities you cannot imagine!
